Stanford, Calif. - The Stanford men's soccer team (3-8-2, 0-4-1 Pac-10) opens the second-half of league play this week, traveling north to take on Oregon State (8-3-4 overall, 4-1 Pac-10), Friday, October 21, at 12:30 p.m. at Lorenz Field. The Cardinal then head to Seattle, Wash. to face Washington (8-3-1, 2-2-1 Pac-10) on Sunday, October 23, at 1 p.m. at the Husky Soccer Field.

With an 0-4-1 conference clip, Stanford is still searching for its first Pac-10 win when it heads to the Northwest. Stanford has lost the last four-straight matches and is winless in the last five. Sophomore midfielder Marcus Ryan leads the team with nine points on four goals and one assist. Junior midfielder/defender Galen Thompson is the only other player with multiple goals (two). Junior goalkeeper Andrew Kartunen has played nine matches, posting a 0.95 goals against average and three shutouts. Sophomore Scott Bolkan, who was recently moved to forward, scored his first collegiate goal in Sunday's loss to Oregon State.

OSU is 4-16-2 all-time against Stanford following last week's 3-1 victory in Palo Alto. OSU won both games in 2003, and Stanford won both games in 2004. In Corvallis, OSU is 2-6-1.

UW leads the all-time series with Stanford 19-13-1. The Huskies are unbeaten against Stanford in the last five meetings, posting four victories and one draw. Last season, UW defeated Stanford 1-0 in Palo Alto (Oct. 29) after the teams battled to a 1-1 tie in Seattle (Oct. 10). Until the 2003 season, Stanford had won five consecutive meetings. UW is 7-5-1 versus the Cardinal in Seattle.

The Cardinal return home next week when they host UCLA on November 4 at 7 p.m. and San Diego State on November 6 at 1 p.m. Both games will be played at Maloney Field.
