Men's Tennis Players Compete at ITA Regionals

Malibu, Calif. - Eight UCLA men's tennis players won first-round singles matches Thursday in the opening day of competition at the 2005 ITA Regional Championships at Pepperdine University.

Top-seeded Benjamin Kohlloeffel cruised into the round of 16, dropping a total of just four games in victories over LMU's Mike Chan and SDSU's Stephan Timu.

Other Bruins who advanced to the round of 16 with two victories Thursday were Michael Look, Chris Surapol, Aaron Yovan and Mathieu Dehaine. Philipp Gruendler and Jeremy Drean were playing late second round matches.

One round of doubles was also scheduled for later Thursday.
