Mann Leads Bruin Runners at Titan Invitational, Placing Ninth Overall
Oct. 21, 2005
Senior Lori Mann led UCLA's three runners on Friday in the women's 5000m race at the Titan Invitational held on a campus course at CS Fullerton, by placing ninth overall and finishing as the third collegian.
Mann's time over the 5000m was 18:16. She has recovered from a quadricep injury that kept her out of last weekend's Pre-NCAA Invitational at Terre Haute, IN.
'I'm impressed with Lori's ability to come back from injury and run strongly today,' said Bruin assistant distance coach Scott Abbott.
Also running for the UCLA women this afternoon at CS Fullerton were - senior Leslie Barrie, who finished 17th overall (18:44) and freshman Lauren Jirges, who placed 30th (19:16). Because UCLA had only three runners, the Bruins did not compete in the team standings.
The remainder of UCLA's women's team will train through this weekend, preparing for the two upcoming championship invitationals. Next Saturday (Oct. 29), the Bruins will run at the 2005 Pac-10 Championships, hosted by the University of Arizona (Tucson) and on Saturday, Nov. 12, UCLA will compete at the 2005 West Region Championships, hosted by Stanford University.
