No. 25 Cal Tied for Seventh After First Round of Stanford Intercollegiate

STANFORD, Calif. - No. 25 California is tied for seventh with a score of eight-over 296 Friday after the first round of the Stanford Pepsi Intercollegiate at Stanford Golf Course.
No. 1 Duke holds a six-shot lead over No. 2 UCLA (289) in the 19-team tournament. The Blue Devils are at five-under as none of their four counting scores were above par. UNLV is third at 292, USC is fourth at 293, and Pepperdine and Oregon State are tied for fifth at 295. Washington also posted a 296 today.
Senior Sophia Sheridan leads all Cal golfers in a tie for 10th place at even-par 72. Sheridan finished the back nine at two-under. Senior Sofie Andersson and junior Mika Takayama are tied for 18th at 73. Freshman Allison Goodman, who is tied for 62nd, provided Cal's final counting score (78).
Cal sophomore Jen Sanders, who is competing as an individual, is tied for 30th with a 74.
UCLA's Amie Cochran and USC's Irene Cho own a share of first in the individual competition. Both athletes fired rounds of four-under 68.
The second of three rounds tees off at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday.
