No. 25 Cal Ties for Ninth at Stanford Intercollegiate

STANFORD, Calif. - No. 25 Cal tied for ninth place Sunday at the Stanford Pepsi Intercollegiate at Stanford Golf Course. The Golden Bears carded a six-over 290 for their best round of the 19-team tournament to finish tied with host Stanford at 888.

No. 1 Duke claimed the team title with a course-record 18-under 834 score for the three-day event. The Blue Devils' Elizabeth Janangelo took top individual honors at 11-under 202, while her teammates Anna Grzebien and Amanda Blumenherst tied for second at 209. Janangelo's six-under score of 65 today was also a course record.

Second-ranked UCLA placed second at 861.

Senior Sofie Andersson paced the Bears by tying for 16th at 217. Andersson fired a 72 in the final round. Junior Mika Takayama posted Cal's low round of the tournament at even-par 71 to tie for 35th (222). Senior Sophia Sheridan tied for 38th at 223, and sophomore Enu Chung rebounded to tie for 53rd (228) on the strength of a 72 today. Freshman Allison Goodman also recorded her best round of the tournament (75) in the final round to tie for 73rd.

Five of Cal's seven golfers carded their best round of the Stanford Intercollegiate on Sunday. Freshman Shannon Yocum, who was competing as an individual shot, her best (77) score, as well.

Cal concludes the fall season at the Kent Youel Invitational Nov. 1-2 in Honolulu.
