UCLA Runs At Conference CC Championships Saturday

Eric Peterson's UCLA men and women's cross country teams on Saturday (Oct. 29) will compete at the 2005 Pacific-10 Championships in Tucson, AZ on the Dell Urich Golf Course. Hosted by the University of Arizona, the men's 8000m event will start at 9:30 a.m. and the women's 6000m race will begin at 10:30 a.m.
Running for the Bruin men will be - senior Nick De Felice; junior Austin Ramos; sophomores, Mike Haddan and Kyle Shackleton, along with freshmen, Drew Shackleton, Matt Stollenwerk and Laef Barnes.
Ramos and Haddan have been UCLA's top runners this season. At the last major meet, the Pre-NCAA Invite on Oct. 15 in Terre Haute, IN, Ramos finished 15th (24:06/8000m) and Haddan placed 56th (24:39). In the team standings, UCLA finished 13th.
It's the 37th annual men's race and No. 4 Stanford will be running for its sixth consecutive league title. Host No. 7 Arizona will be led by defending individual champion Robert Cheseret. Washington is ranked No. 24 and the Bruins received votes in the last national poll (Oct. 17).
At the 2004 Pac-10 Championships, the Bruin men finished fifth and were led by returning runner Ramos, who placed 21st (25:06). UCLA's men's team then went on to finish fourth at the NCAA West Region.
On Saturday, Nov. 12, Stanford will host the 2005 NCAA West Region Championships and on Monday, Nov. 21, Indiana State (Terre Haute, IN) will host the 2005 NCAA Championships.
