California Defender Tyson Wahl Named Pac-10 Men's Soccer Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - California senior defender Tyson Wahl has been named the Pac-10 Men's Soccer Player of the Week for Oct. 18 - 24, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Wahl, from Newport Beach, Calif., scored two of the Bears' four goals in their 4-0 shutout at Oregon State on Friday. He scored off a corner kick, served by Andrew Jacobson, at 20:23 in the game for Cal's second goal of the afternoon. His second goal of the game came with six minutes left to play, sealing the Bears' victory. He scored on a direct free kick.
Wahl, who has started every game for Cal during his career, surpassed his previous total of three goals in his career with five goals this season. He did not score any goals in 2004.
No. 9 California (4-3-0, 11-3-1) will pick up Pac-10 action again in November, hosting San Diego State on Fri., Nov. 4 and UCLA on Sun., Nov. 6.
This is Wahl's second Pac-10 Player of the Week honor and 9th weekly honor all-time for California.
