Chu and Slovic Win ITA Regional Doubles Title

SANTA CLARA, CALIF. - Washington juniors Daniel Chu and Alex Slovic won the doubles title at the 2005 Wilson/ITA Northwest Regional Championships, Tuesday, earning themselves an automatic spot in next week's ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships.

Chu and Slovic, the tournament's top seed, defeated Scott Kennel and James Redpath from Portland, 8-4, in the title match.

Slovic, the No. 2 singles seed, also competed in the singles' title match but fell in straight sets to top-seeded K.C. Corkery of Stanford, 6-4. 6-4. Although the Northwest Regional Champion earns the automatic singles berth into the National Indoor Championships, Slovic will also compete in the national tournament as an at-large selection.

The ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships take place Nov. 3-6 at Ohio State University.
