Rowing to Host Gonzaga at the Head of the Snake Regatta

What's Happening This Week: The Washington State women's rowing team will attempt to outstroke Gonzaga for the second straight week Saturday, Oct. 29 as the Bulldogs visit Pullman for the Head of the Snake Regatta...races begin at 10 a.m. and will feature the crews racing over a 5,000 meter course on the Snake River.
Last Week: The varsity eight boat rowed to a 10th place finish at the famed Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston, defeating six nationally ranked programs: Tennessee, Boston, Minnesota, Iowa, Harvard and Syracuse...the remaining crews traveled to Spokane to row against Gonzaga, where the second and third varsity eight crews defeated the Bulldogs' top crew.
Home Snake Home: WSU will compete on its home course, Wawawai Landing on the Snake River, three times this year, the most since the 1999-2000 season, when the Cougars hosted the Head of the Snake in the fall, and the Cougar Invitational and Oregon State in a dual regatta in the spring.
On Tap for the Cougars: The team will cross the Cascades Sunday, Nov. 13 to compete against host school Washington and others in the Head of the Lake Regatta on the Montlake Cut in Seattle.
Coaching Staff: Jane LaRiviere begins her fourth season at the helm of the program...WSU earned team bids the NCAA Championships in two of LaRiviere's first three years with the program...LaRiviere is assisted by Mike Stahlman and Christina Meyer...Stahlman begins his second season as assistant coach for the Cougars...he previously coached at Princeton...Meyer enters her first year at WSU after coaching stints at Harvard and Brentwood College in British Columbia.
Directions to the WSU Boathouse at Wawawai Landing: From Highway 195 (north or south), turn west on Wawawai Road at the blinking yellow light...travel on Wawawai Road for 10 miles, the road will end at a stop sign...turn right and drive six miles down into the canyon...go past the county park on the right and over the railroad tracks...the boathouse is a cinderblock building on the right...park on the side of the road or in the parking lot south of the boathouse.
