Wood Paces Trojan Efforts At CordeValle Collegiate

Senior Taylor Wood is tied for 10th through 36 holes to lead the USC men's golf team on Monday (Oct. 31) at the first CordeValle Collegiate at CordeValle C.C. in San Martin, Calif.
The Trojans finished tied for ninth among 15 teams with 585 (+9) after rounds of 291 (+3) and 294 (+6). Northwestern leads at 564 (-12) with 18 holes to play.
Wood fired rounds of 69 (-3) and 73 (+1) for a 142 (-2). Wood played almost flawless in the first round with three birdies and nothing worse than par. He had two more birdies in the second round.
Senior Tyler Ley and freshman Ryan Linton finished tied for 30th at 147 (+3). Ley opened with a 74 and finished with a 73 and Linton did the reverse.
Senior Bradley Shaw and junior Jordan Nasser tied for 55th at 151 (+7). Nasser had an up-and-down first round that featured an eagle on the par 4 8th hole just two holes after a double bogey on 6. He also had a pair of birdies in the eventful round.
