Women's Swimming Jumps To 20th In National Poll

SEATTLE-- The Washington women's swimming team moved up five spots in the College Swim Coaches Association top-25 poll this week to No. 20 after upsetting No. SMU last Saturday. The Huskies received 41 points to tie Purdue for the No. 20 spot. The UW men are just six votes out of the top-25.
Both the men's and women's team will compete in the Big West Shootout in Irvine, Calif., Nov. 4-5. The Huskies are in Pool A and will swim against host UC Irvine, Cal Poly, Cal State Northridge and San Diego (women) on Friday at noon. Pool B consists of Hawaii, UC Davis, BYU (men), Stanford (women), Pepperdine (women) and Idaho (women).
The top two men's teams in each pool will compete in the championship pool Saturday and the top two women's teams plus the top remaining finisher will compete in the championship pool for the women Saturday at 10 am.
The meet features three ranked women's teams including No. 3 Stanford, No. 18 Hawaii and UW, while Brigham Young's 19th ranked men will be a front runner.
Last season, both UW team placed second behind Hawaii.
