Cal Ranked No. 28 Nationally

BERKELEY, Calif. - Coming off a program-best third-place finish at the Pac-10 Championships, the California men's cross country team is ranked No. 28 nationally in the NCAA Cross Country Poll released Nov. 1. This marks the latest in the season that the Golden Bears have ever been ranked in the top 30.

Led by senior Giliat Ghebray's eighth-place showing, four Cal runners placed in the top 20 at the 2005 conference meet.

Wisconsin holds the No. 1 spot in the national poll, with Arkansas falling to No. 2 after holding the top spot in the previous two rankings. Stanford is the highest ranked Pac-10 team at No. 4, followed by Arizona at No. 9 and then Cal. Washington is right behind the Bears in 29th.

Cal will be looking to qualify as a team to the NCAA Championships for the first time in school history at the NCAA West Regional Saturday, Nov. 12 at the Stanford Golf Course.
