ASU Women's Basketball To Host WBCA/BTI Classic

THIS WEEK: The No. 18 (ESPN/USA Today) Arizona State women's basketball team opens its regular season this weekend (Nov. 11-12) when it hosts the WBCA/BTI Classic at Wells Fargo Arena. In addition to ASU, the tournament will also feature No. 16 Vanderbilt, Clemson and Missouri.

The tournament will begin on Friday evening when Clemson and Missouri square off in the first preliminary game at 6 p.m. Shortly after the conclusion of that game (approximately 8:30 p.m.), Arizona State and Vanderbilt collide in a game that matches two teams which both made it to last season's Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament.

On Saturday, the two losing teams from Friday will take on one another in a consolation game which is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. in Wells Fargo Arena. The championship game of the WBCA/BTI Classic will follow (approximately 6:30 p.m.).

Friday, November 11

Game No. 1: Clemson vs. Missouri (6 p.m.)

Game No. 2: No. 16 ArizonaState vs. No. 18 Vanderbilt (8:30 p.m.)

 

Saturday, November 12

Game No. 3: WBCA/BTI Classis Consolation Game (4 p.m.)

Game No. 4: WBCA/BTI Classic Championship Game (6:30 p.m.)

TICKET INFORMATION: General admission is $5 for adults, $4 for faculty, $3 for Jr./Sr. and $2 per person for groups of 25 or more. Reserved seats ($8/$4 for faculty and staff) and floor seats ($13) must be purchased in advance at the Sun Devil ticket office. ADIMISSION IS FREE FOR ASU STUDENTS. MILITARY TRIBUTE: The Arizona State women's basketball program will pay tribute to current and retired military members throughout the state of Arizona at the WBCA/BTI Classic Tournament home opener against Vanderbilt, on November 11, 2005 (Veterans' Day). All military members serving in active, reserve and national guard units in Arizona and their families will receive free admission to Saturday night's game via pass list. Pass lists need to be submitted to ASU by the end of the business day on Tuesday, November 8th and can be faxed to the ASU women's basketball office at (480) 965-8344.

ASU STUDENT GROUP CONTEST: The Arizona State women's basketball program is calling on all ASU student groups to come out and show their support. The student group that brings the most fans (minimum of 25) will win $250 for their organization. Groups must be registered in order to participate. TV: Friday night's Arizona State-Vanderbilt game will be televised live by Fox Sports Net and can be seen locally on Fox Sports Arizona. ASU's game on Saturday can be seen on KAZ-TV at 6:30 p.m.

RADIO: Both of ASU's games can also be heard live on KXAM 1310 AM. Valley veteran broadcaster Jeff Munn is in his second year as the voice of ASU women's basketball. He will be joined on the broadcast by Seth Sulka, General Manager of the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury.
