California's swimming and diving team hosts its first of four home meets of the 2005-06 season when the University of Pacific comes to Berkeley. The meet will feature co-ed competition with both the men's and women's meets taking place Friday.

The Golden Bears return home after a two-meet sweep in the Midwest. Cal traveled to Michigan on Oct. 27 and won 167-128. The Bears followed that victory up with a win at Notre Dame on Oct. 28, 156.5-141.5.

There are more than a few connections between the Bay Area and Stockton that will be featured at Friday's meet. Cal sophomore Jessica Cotton is a native of Stockton and attended Lincoln High School. Pacific features four swimmers who are from the Bay Area: sophomore Sarah Gutierrez (San Jose, Archbishop Mitty HS); senior Liz Plume (Hillsborough, Burlingame HS); senior Jennifer Radecke (Alameda, St. Joseph Notre Dame HS); junior Ali Rowe (Concord, Concord HS).

In 2004, Cal defeated Pacific 155.50-98.50 at Spieker Aquatics Complex on Nov. 13, with the Bears taking first in seven events. Cal holds a 22-2 record all-time vs. Pacific.

Pacific is coming off of a second-place finish at the Pacific Tiger Invitational the Tigers hosted Oct. 28-29 in Stockton. The Tigers are 1-1 in dual meet competition this season, falling to Washington (147-109) and defeating Seattle University (116-77).

Pacific finished runner-up in the Big West last season, with Jennifer Radecke and Ja-Neil Bragg receiving Female Athlete of the Year honors. Radecke was named the conference Swimmer of the Year, while Bragg earned Freshman of the Year honors. The Tigers return both of their NCAA qualifiers in Bragg and sophomore Ziada Jardine.
