Bruin Players Recognized By ESPN.com

Nov. 9, 2005

UCLA women's basketball standouts Nikki Blue, Noelle Quinn and Lisa Willis have been recognized by ESPN.com as amongst the nation's best.

The ESPN.com women's college basketball panel of columnist Mechelle Voepel, ESPN's Nancy Lieberman and Beth Mowins and ESPN.com contributor Melanie Jackson have named Blue as one of the Top 5 point guards in the nation and Quinn as one of the Top 5 2-guards in the nation in their player rankings. Lieberman cited Willis as the best defender in the nation.

The Bruins are also mentioned in the Fact or Fiction column. Mowins states that the Bruin Triple Threat could lay claim to the title of 'Best Backcourt in the Nation' if they all stay healthy. Lieberman claims that Blue is the most underrated player in the nation, saying, 'UCLA's Nikki Blue is a great, great point guard who has gotten no major attention. She's just the second Bruin (joining Ann Meyers) in school history to record at least 1,300 career points and 400 career assists. She led the Pac-10 with 18.8 points last season and ranked 12th in the nation in steals and tied for 12th in assists. And she's going to be a good WNBA player.'

UCLA fans can vote for the Bruins in three ESPN.com polls. Click HERE to vote for Blue and Quinn for the SportsNation Preseason All-America Team. You can also click HERE to vote for UCLA in the pre-season Top 25, as well as HERE for conference polls.

UCLA concludes its pre-season with an exhibition game against Play Mode on Sunday, Nov. 13 at 2 pm in Pauley Pavilion.
