Men's Soccer Ends League Play At California

CARDINAL FACE GOLDEN BEARS ON SUNDAY: The Stanford men's soccer team (4-10-3, 1-6-2 Pac-10) finishes out the regular season on the road this weekend when the Cardinal travel accross the Bay to take on California (12-3-2, 5-3-1 Pac-10), Sunday, Nov. 13 at 1 p.m. at Edwards Stadium.
LAST WEEK: Stanford fell to nationally-ranked UCLA, 1-0, in overtime last Friday ... Both teams were held scoreless through two periods of play with UCLA taking eight shots in regulation while Stanford had six ... UCLA net-minder Eric Reed had four saves on the night as did Stanford goalie Andrew Kartunen. On Sunday, the Cardinal drew a 0-0 tie in double overtime against San Diego State ... Stanford outshot the Aztecs 13-6 ... Sophomore Dan Shapiro (New Haven, CT) led the squad with five shots while sophomore Ryan Imamura (Eugene, OR) added three on the afternoon. Three Cardinal seniors - Cooper McKee, Bronson McDonald and K.C. Coyne wrapped up their collegiate careers at Maloney Field as well.
SERIES HISTORY: In their last meeting, Cal defeated Stanford, 1-0 (10/8), however, Stanford leads the all-time series against the Bears, 19-12-7. The Cardinal's last victory at Cal came in 2001 with a 2-0 win.
AROUND THE PITCH: The Cardinal keeper, Andrew Kartunen, has recorded four shutouts and 36 saves this season ... Galen Thompson has two goals and one assist this season (five points) while both Shapiro and Evan Moore have two assists each ... Michael Brown has one game-winning goal this season ... Stanford has 11 goals this year.
