Men's Golf Falls After Second Round

After defeating New Mexico in the first round number six seed Arizona State University Men's Golf team was defeated by third seed Georgia Tech after the second round of the Golf Coaches Association of America and National Golf Coaches Association Collegiate Match Play Championship.
Georgia Tech beat Arizona State 3-1-1 to move on to the third round of competition. Niklas Lemke was the only Arizona State player to beat his opponent in the match play. Alejandro Canizares, Charly Simon, and Ryan Kelley all fell to Georgia Tech, while Benjamin Alvarado-Holley tied with Georgia Tech's Cameron Tringale.
Arizona State moves into the consolation bracket to match up with tenth seed Coastal Carolina. Georgia Tech moves on to play number 15 Stanford.
In the first round number six seed Arizona State University Men's Golf team defeated 11th seed New Mexico 3-2 to advance to the second round.
There were a number of upsets early in the tournament. Number 15 seed Stanford defeated second seed Oklahoma State 3-2, 13th seed Arizona edged out fourth seed Duke after tying 2-2-1, and tenth seed Coastal Carolina beat seventh seed Kentucky 2-1-2 to advance to the second round.
Match play continues Nov. 12 and 13 at the Mission Inn Golf and Tennis Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.
