No. 2 Washington Sweeps No. 15 USC, 3-0

LOS ANGELES -- Libero Candace Lee registered 35 digs Friday while setter Courtney Thompson had 51 assists as the No. 2 Washington Huskies swept the No. 15 USC Women of Troy, 3-0 (30-21, 30-23, 30-19), in Pac-10 Conference action at the Lyon Center. Washington handed USC its first loss at home this season in eight matches.
Washington keeps its perfect season intact with a 23-0 record and 14-0 mark in the Pac-10 while USC, which had won nine of its last 10 matches before tonight, falls to 13-8 overall and 9-4 in conference.
This was the 19th time this season that Washington has earned a 3-0 sweep.
Darla Myhre did not have a hitting error for Washington, hitting .571 (8-0-14) while Alesha Deesing also hit well with a .550 night (13-2-20).
The Huskies jumped out early in game one after a 6-5 lead with a 7-1 run. Two kills by Christal Morrison and a service ace by Ashley Aratani paved the way for Washington. UW hit a match-high .364 in the first game.
USC held tough in the second game, but again another 7-1 run by the Huskies did the damage for a 2-0 lead.
In the third game, Washington scored the hat trick with another 7-1 run early to take a 17-10 lead. Deesing recorded three kills during the run as the Huskies held the Women of Troy to an .082 hitting performance.
USC will host Washington State tomorrow in a 6 p.m. match at the Lyon Center.
