Schofield Leads Bruin on Final Day of Trojan Invitational

Freshman Tess Schofield led the Bruin divers on the final day of competition at the Trojan Diving Invitational, placing fourth on the platform with a score of 212.00. On both days of the competition, freshmen divers led UCLA with Schofield on Saturday and Marisa Samaniego on Friday showing a great future for the Bruin dive team.
Samaniego highlighted the Bruins on day one of the Trojan Invitational on Friday with a second-place finish on 3-meter (267.95) and a fourth-place finish on one-meter (228.70). Arizona's Tiffany Manning won the 3-meter competition (269.95), while USC's Blythe Hartley captured the 1-meter title (320.10).
Out of 33 divers on 3M, three Bruins advanced to the finals - Samaniego, senior Paige Thompson and junior Sara Clark. Thompson finished seventh with a score of 229.30 while junior Sara Clark placed 10th (211.10). After prelims, Samaniego was second (252.40), Thompson was third (247.20) and Clark was seventh (234.70). Also in the prelims, freshmen Tess Schofield (207.90) and Brittany Hill (188.45) placed 15th and 20th respectively.
On one-meter, Samaniego was the only Bruin to advance to the finals. In preliminary competition, Schofield finished 13th (202.75), Thompson was 17th (195.15) and Hill placed 25th (174.70).
