Women's Golf to Compete in Championship Match-up

After competition was halted due to darkness on Friday, the Arizona State University Women's Golf team defeated both number five seed Southern California and number one seed UCLA to make it to the championship match, held on Sunday Nov. 13 in the Golf Coaches Association of America and National Golf Coaches Association Collegiate Match Play Championship..The Sun Devils resumed competition this morning after the match play was halted due to darkness. ASU edged out fifth seed Southern California to move on to play number one seed UCLA.
ASU handily defeated the number one seed Bruins winning 4-1. Azahara Munoz, Tiffany Tavee, Alissa Kuczka and Jennifer Osborn all won their matches against UCLA. Only Charmaine Erasmus was defeated by Susie Matthews from UCLA in a close match-up.
The Sun Devils compete tomorrow in the championship match-up against second seed Purdue. Purdue defeated Oklahoma State, Stanford and Texas A&M to make it to the Championship round.
The final round of the GCAA Match Play Championship will continue Sunday at the Mission Inn Golf and Tennis Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.
