Women's Golf Falls to Purdue in Championship Match-up

Second seed Purdue defeated fourth seed Arizona State in the championship match-up of the Golf Coaches Association of America and National Golf Coaches Association Collegiate Women's Match Play Championship held at the Mission Inn Golf and Tennis Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.
Purdue defeated ASU 3-1-1 in the championship match-up. Azahara Munoz, Alissa Kuczka and Jennifer Osborn all lost their match-up. Lindsay Anderson and Purdue's Whitney Frykman tied their match-up. Tiffany Tavee, the only Sun Devil to win her match-up, defeated Purdue's Myrte Eikenaar.
Arizona State beat 13th seed Missouri, fifth seed Southern California and first seed UCLA to compete in the championship match-up.
Purdue defeated 15th seed Oklahoma State, 10th seed Stanford and sixth seed Texas A&M to compete in the championship match-up.
Seeds for the tournament were allotted based on the 2005 NCAA Tournament results.
The Golf Coaches Association of America and National Golf Coaches Association Collegiate Women's Match Play Championship was Arizona State's the last tournament of the 2005 fall season.
The Sun Devils resume competition Feb. 13-15 in the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge in Palos Verdes, Calif. to start the 2006 spring season.
