BEARS SWIM AT HOME FOR SECOND CONSECUTIVE WEEK
California's women's swim team hosts Oregon State at noon Friday at Spieker Aquatics Complex. The meet, which was originally scheduled for 1 p.m., is the second of four home dates during Cal's 2005-06 season.The Golden Bears are coming off of a 155-99 win over visiting Pacific on Nov. 11 in Berkeley.
Oregon State (0-4, 0-1) comes off a tournament win at the Rice Invitational held Nov. 4-5. The Beavers topped the field of Rice, Arkansas and Villanova.
The Beavers suffered losses earlier this season to University of British Columbia, (140-122), and Texas A&M (157.5-104.5) on Oct. 28. On Oct. 15, Oregon State came up short in meet against both UCSB (183-79) and Pac-10 foe UCLA (184-76).
Last season, the Bears defeated the visiting Beavers, 147.5-111.5, on Nov. 5 in Berkeley. Cal holds a 6-0 record against Oregon State.
SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
Oregon State finished seventh at the 2005 Pac-10 Championships with 504.5 points. Cal, which placed third at the conference meet, tallied 1,088.5. The Beavers return one of their three 2005 NCAA qualifiers in sophomore Felicia Catenada. The breaststroker is one of 12 returning letterwinners and nine returning Pac-10 scorers for Oregon State. Catenada placed sixth in the 100 breast at the conference meet and 19th in the event at the NCAA championships.
