Five Trojan Women's Cross Country Members Selected to Pac-10 All-Academic Team
Nov. 17, 2005
The USC women's cross country team had five players named to the Pac-10 Women's Cross Country All-Academic team today (Nov. 17), led by senior captain Kate Neeper who was a first-team selection. Also being named as honorable mention were senior Amber Oleson, junior Christina Eads, and sophomores Sara Fusco and Sarah Sisco.
To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor.
Neeper's 3.98 GPA was topped on the Pac-10 Women's Cross Country All-Academic Team by only Rachel Ellison of Arizona State (4.0) and Kaitlin Poggi of Oregon State (4.0). Neeper, a double major in international relations and Spanish, plans to pursue a masters degree upon graduation from USC. Before she does that, though, she will compete for the USC track and field team. The Parker, Colo. native took fifth place in the 10,000m at the 2004 Pac-10 Championships and is the USC freshman record holder in the 5,000m with a time of 17:55.
Oleson (Pacific Palisades, Calif) is a double major in broadcast journalism and political science, Eads (Fallbrook, Calif.) is a biochemistry major, Fusco (Margate, N.J.) is a political science major with a law and society minor, and Sisco (Temecula, Calif.) is a vocal music major.
