Former Bears Set Spieker Record at Alumni Meet
Nov. 18, 2005
BERKELEY, Calif. - Former California Golden Bears Bart Kizierowski, Rolandas Gimbutis, Scott Greenwood and Duje Draganja set a Spieker Aquatics Complex record by winning the 200-yard freestyle relay in a time of 1:18.58 in today's Alumni Meet. The alumni won seven out of nine events in the exhibition event, which pitted the former Bears against current Cal men's swimmers.
Greenwood was a member of the Cal quartet (Matt Macedo, Frank Uxa, Greenwood and Anthony Ervin) that swam the old Spieker 200 free relay record of 1:19.77 on Feb. 17, 2001. Kizierowski is Cal's current volunteer assistant coach.
Current junior Graham Lentz won the 50 breaststroke in a time of 25.86. The current Bears' only other victory at the Alumni Meet came in the 100 individual medley, in which sophomore Louis Vayo was awarded the win in a time of 54.58.
Cal returns to competitive action at the Dec. 1-3 Texas Invitational in Austin, Texas.
