Stanford Swimmers Continue To Dominate At Speedo Cup

Long Beach, Ca - The nationally-ranked Stanford men's swim team continued to dominate during day two action on Friday at the UC Irvine Speedo Cup at Belmont Plaza.
Stanford's men's team won six of the seven events on the day. Andy Grant recorded an NCAA automatic qualifying time of 1:35.24 in the 200 free. Grant's time was also a Speedo Cup record. A day earlier, Grant had an automatic qualifying time in the 500 free with his winning time of 4:18.43. Hongzhe Sun of Stanford swam an NCAA 'A' cut time of 47.29 in the 100 back. A day earlier, Sun had an 'A' qualifying time in the 200 IM of 1:46.08. The Stanford relay team of Jason Dunford, Daniel Beal, Shaun Phillips and Andy Grant broke the Speedo Cup record in the 800 free relay with a time of 6:30.16.
The UC Irvine Speedo Cup concludes Saturday with the finals begining at 6:00 p.m. at Belmont Plaza.
