No. 3 Washington Defeats Cougs in Three

SEATTLE, Wash. -- The No. 3 Washington Huskies volleyball team (26-1, 17-1) capped its second straight Pacific-10 Conference title with a 30-15, 30-12, 30-22 win over Washington State University (9-22, 2-16) Friday night at the Bank of America Arena before 5,116 fans.

UW senior All-American Sanja Tomasevic led all players with 19 kills, hitting .545, with a pair of aces and 11 digs. Brie Hagerty tallied 16 kills for the Dawgs and Christal Morrison added another 12 kills and 10 digs. Candace Lee led all players with 25 digs while Alesha Deesing added three blocks and Courtney Thompson had 51 of UW's 53 assists.

Natalia Owens led the Cougars with 10 kills while Jen Barcus had three blocks and Jalen Pendon had 14 digs. Maureen Perez had 27 assists.

The Cougars, the Pac-10 blocking leader throughout this season, had five team blocks, the lowest total of their 31 matches this season. In the second game, the Huskies hit .467 and held the Cougars to a -.065 team hitting percentage but the Cougs bounced back in the third game to hit .196 while UW hit .300.

Barcus ends the season in fifth place on the WSU career block assists list with a total of 336, and seventh in career total blocks with 379.
