USC Notches First Win Of Season Over Eastern Washington, 69-51

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Nick Young scored 25 points and Southern California defeated Eastern Washington 69-51 Friday in the consolation bracket of the Carrs/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout.
The victory was the first for new coach Tim Floyd. The Eagles (1-2) had no answer for Young, who shot 11-for-18 from the field and pulled down eight rebounds.
The Trojans (1-2) cruised to a 12-1 lead to open the game. After the Eagles closed to 14-11, Gabe Pruitt's 3-pointer started an 18-2 run as Eastern Washington was held to one field goal over nearly nine minutes. Southern Cal led 36-18 at the half.
Eastern Washington used a 12-2 run to close to 42-30 with 13:06 remaining but could get no closer.
Pruitt added 13 points for the Trojans. Ryan Francis had eight assists.
Jake Beitinger scored 17 points for Eastern Washington and Rodney Stuckey added 15.
USC will face the winner of Alaska-Anchorage-Southern Illinois on Saturday. Eastern Washington will play the loser.
