Swimming Adds Eight Early Signees

SEATTLE- The Washington men's and women's swimming teams have added eight early signees to their roster for the 2006 season. Swimmers Jereme Barnett-Woods, Hunter, Andrew Nguyen and James Schuyleman join the men's team while Rian Buckley, Jennifer Gong, Dominique Lazarovici and Petra Radovic join the women's team.
Barnett-Woods, an Irvine, Calif. native, joins the Huskies after earning USA Swimming Scholastic All-American Honors at University High School. Specializing in distance freestyle, Barnett-Woods boasts personal bests in the 500 freestyle (4:35.74), 1000 freestyle (9:31.43) and the (15:51.05).
Barrett, who hails from Bellevue, Wash., was a standout at Newport High School in both academics and in the pool. Barrett is a member of the National Honors Society and swam under head coach Klaas Schenk of the Bellevue Swim Team. Standing in at 6'1', Barrett specializes in freestyle and individual medley events.
Nguyen, a La Canada, Calif. native, will join the Huskies from La Canada High School. Nguyen is a member of the California Scholarship Federation and the National Honor Society. Specializing in freestyle and individual medley races, Nguyen swam under head coach Terry Stoddard. Nguyen boasts a personal best time of 9:35.91 in the 1000 freestyle and 4:08.08 in the 400 IM.
Schuyleman, who hails from Issaquah, Wash., comes to the Huskies from Liberty High School where he swam under head coach Kyle Johnson. Schuyleman boasts personal best times in the 200 IM (1:52.38), 400 IM (4:02.24), 100 butterfly (50.42) and 200 backstroke (1:52.80).
Buckley, an Olympia native, joins the UW women's team from Olympia High School under head coach Kelli Denny. Buckley swam for the Poseiden Swim Team and posted personal best times in the 50 free (24.93) and the 100 free (53.08).
Gong, who hails from Campbell, Calif., comes to the University of Washington from Presentation High School under coach Pete Raykovich. Gong is a member of the California Scholarship Federation and specializes in the individual medley and backstroke races. Gong boasts personal best times in the 200 IM (2:04.84), 400 IM (4:26.83) and 200 back (2:04.78).
Lazarovici, a Cupertino, Calif. native, joins the Huskies after gaining experience under head coach Dick Jochums (former UW All-American) at Monta Vista High School. Lazarovici also swam for the Santa Clara Swim Club and specializes in the backstroke and freestyle races.
Radovic, who hails from Zagreb, Croatia, swam under head coach Tomislav Rogic at Zagreb 1st Grammar High School. Specializing in the sprint fly, backstroke and freestyle races, Radovic also swam for the Hapk Mladost Swim Club. Radovic boasts personal bests in the 50 free (23.94) and 100 fly (56.62).
