Greg Trent Named To Freshman All-America Team

PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington State linebacker Greg Trent has been named to the 2005 CollegeFootballNews.com Freshman All-America second team, it was announced Thursday.
Trent, a native of Keller, Texas, played in all 11 games this season, five as a starter. He registered 69 tackles, which were second on the team. Additionally, he recorded three tackles for loss, one sack, three pass breakups and one fumble recovery.
When senior linebacker Will Derting suffered a knee injury late at Oregon State (Sept. 28). Trent moved into the starting middle linebacker spot the following week and responded with 10 tackles against Stanford. The next week against UCLA he led the Cougars with 12 tackles, one of three double-digit games on the season. He had a season-high 13 tackles against Oregon, including seven solo and two tackles for loss, along with a fumble recovery.
Trent was one of six Pacific-10 Conference players selected on the first, second or third All-America teams.
