Stanford Track & Field Program Signs Top High School Recruits

Stanford, Ca - One of the strongest recruiting classes in Stanford track & field history will be enrolling at Stanfored University in the Fall of 2006.
Edrick Floreal, the Franklin P. Johnson Director of Track & Field, has signed seven outstanding athletes to national letters of intents. The list includes the following athletes.
Sarah Matthew - Niwot, CO
The 2005 Colorado state champion in the 100 and 200 meters, the long jump and as a member of the Niwot High School 400 meter relay team ... Niwot was the top high school jumper in the nation last year with a leap of 21-2 ... Matthew has a personal best of 11.56 in the 100 meters and 24.00 in the 200 meters ... At Stanford, she will specialize in the jumps and sprints ... According to Floreal, Matthew will make an instant impact on the Cardinal track & field team ... Floreal says Matthew, who comes from an outstanding track & field program at Niwot, will be a tremendous multiple event athlete.
Anne St. Geme - Newport, CA
Anne is the daughter of former Stanford star distance runner Ceci Hopp, and former Cardinal football player Ed St. Geme ... St. Geme, who attends Corona Del Mar High School, was the 2005 California state cross country champion, and the state mile champion ... St. Geme has a personal best of 2:12.20 in the 800 meters and 4:49.3 in the 1600 meters ... Floreal says her athleticism will be a definite asset to the Stanford program.
Steven Duplinsky - North Bethesda, MD
Duplinsky was a world class junior triathlete and Georgetown Prep ... Duplinsky has run the 3000 meters in 8:38.27 ... Duplinsky is the league record holder in the 1600 meters and will specialize in the distance events at Stanford ... Floreal says Duplinsky will be a huge addition to the talented corps of cross country and track runners at Stanford.
Daniel Haddock - Paradise Valley, AZ
The 2005 IAAF World Youth championship competitor in the javelin ... Haddock's talents will make an instant impact on the Cardinal ... The silver medalist in the 2004 Junior Olympics ... Attends Phoenix Country Day School ... Both parents attended Stanford.
Kate Niehaus - Columbia, SC
Niehaus is the South Carolina state record holder in cross country, the 3,200 meters, the 5,000 meters and as a member of the Spring Valley High School 3200 meter relay team ... Niehaus was a runnerup at the 2005 Footlocker South Regional Championship, and a four-time Footlocker finalist ... Floreal says Niehaus, who will specialize in the middle and long distances, will develop fast with her athletic talent.
Nora Miller - Middletown, CT
Miller is the 2005 USATAF Junior Olympic long jump champion ... The Connecticut state and all-New England athlete not only is an outstanding long jumper, but an excellent competitor in the hurdles, and the 200 meters ... Miller will concentrate on the multi-events at Stanford ... Floreal says Miller will make an instant impact at the Pac-10 level during her freshman season at Stanford in 2006 ... Attends Middletown High School.
Durell Coleman - Rockwall, TX
Coleman was twice named Texas Amateur Athletic Federation Regional Athlete of the Year in 2005 ... Coleman excels in the 200 and 400 meters, the high jump and will be a key performer in the multi-events ... Is attending Rockwall High School.
