Oregon State's Chris Stephens Named U.S. Bank Pac-10 Men's Basketball Player of the Week

Oregon State guard Chris Stephens has been named the U.S. Bank Pacific-10 Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for December 12 - 18, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Stephens, a senior from Portland, Ore., led the Beavers in scoring in their two wins last week. He scored 17 points in Oregon State's 70-52 win over Northern Colorado. At the Rose Garden, Stephens poured in 25 points, the most by a Beaver this season, in the 64-60 win over Georgia. He notched 18 of Oregon State's 28 second-half points, including the squad's final 10 points of the game. Stephens scored eight of those points from the charity stripe in the final four minutes of play.
Oregon State (4-3, 0-0 Pac-10) will take their non-conference schedule to the islands this week, appearing in the Rainbow Classic in Honolulu, Hawaii. The Beavers open the tournament against Northwestern State on Wed., Dec. 21.
This is the first weekly honor for Stephens and Oregon State's 38th Player of the Week all-time.
