Dec. 21, 2005
SEATTLE - The University of Washington has received National Letters of Intent or scholarship agreements from three junior college football players, head coach Tyrone Willingham announced today. Two of the three student-athletes will transfer to the UW in time for the start of the winter academic quarter and the third will enroll for spring quarter. All will be eligible to participate in spring football practice.
The three student-athletes that signed with the UW are: DE Anthony Atkins (Long Beach, Calif./Compton CC), LS Danny Morovick (Mission Viejo, Calif./Saddleback CC) and DB Jordan Murchison (Oakland, Calif./CC of San Francisco). Morovick and Murchison will enroll at the UW for the winter quarter while Atkins will join in the spring.
'In keeping with our goal to improve our football team, we have added young men that adhere to the personality direction of our team,' Willingham said of his three signees. 'These young men believe in hard work, team and positive character.
'The on-field abilities and accomplishments of these student-athletes are noted in their bios,' Willingham continued, 'but it is the individual strength of each person that will make us a better football team. And, having them join us prior to fall camp allows us and them to be at our best.'
