Oregon State Holds Off South Florida, 61-56

HONOLULU (AP) - Chris Stephens scored 21 points as Oregon State beat South Florida, 61-56 in the consolation round of the Rainbow Classic on Thursday.

The Beavers (5-4) will play Western Michigan on Friday for fifth place. South Florida (5-5) faces Loyola Marymount for seventh in the eight-team tournament.

Sasa Cuic added 12 points, including three 3-pointers for Oregon State.

Solomon Jones led South Florida with 19 points and 10 rebounds. James Holmes added 18 points for the Bulls.

South Florida closed to 57-56 with 1:22 left, but Stephens, who shot 8-of-15 from the field, scored the final four points for the Beavers to seal the win.

The Beavers led 33-25 at the half.
