DALLAS- The Washington men's swimming team wrapped up the final day of competition at the Dallas Morning News Swimming and Diving Classic on Saturday evening, pushing past 19th ranked Notre Dame in the final standings. The Huskies finished fifth in a field of six teams, with four of those teams ranked in the most recent top-25 polls.
The Husky men started off strong with a season-best time in the 200 medley relay, finishing in fourth place with a time of 1:31.87. The team consisted of Taylor Brugh, Pat Penoyer, Jared Osborne and Bruno Barbic.
Barbic would also take part in two Husky-best second-place finishes in the 100 freestyle (44.88) and the 200 freestyle relay (1:22.88). His 100 free time earned the Huskies 13 points, while his 200 free relay team consisting of teammates Ivan Perhat, Osborne and Lundgaard picked up a total of 18 points.
The Huskies were able to stay with the pack despite forfeiting 10 points in the three-meter dive for the second time in the competition. The Huskies had to forfeit the one-meter dive on Friday night as well as a result of not being able to field a diving squad.
The Huskies will be out of action until February 2nd when they head to Hawaii for a dual meet that is slated for a 10:00 a.m. start.
