Auction, Alumni Game Highlight Huskies' Feb. 5 Game With WSU

SEATTLE - Fans can start their Super Sunday on Feb. 5 with the Husky women's basketball team. Many special events will surround the 1 p.m. game versus cross-state rival Washington State at Bank of America Arena. Included in the day's festivities will be the annual auction, the alumni game and the National Girls and Women In Sports Day celebration. Husky senior Kayla Burt will also be presented her V Foundation Comeback Award in a special pregame ceremony.
The day's activities will tip-off with the annual auction beginning at 10 a.m. at the North Court in Bank of America Arena. Fans will have the opportunity to bid on over 300 items. There will be two sections of auction items, with one closing 10 minutes into the halftime and the other closing at the end of halftime. Proceeds from the auction will benefit the Husky women's basketball program.
Items up for bid include an autographed jersey from the Seattle Storm's Sue Bird, two seats to any Husky sporting event on the West Coast aboard a Citation Excel jet, Mariners' box seats, VIP Storm tickets, a round of golf for two at Washington National with Husky Athletic Director Todd Turner and Senior Associate A.D. Marie Tuite, Husky football tickets, passes to the Seattle Aquarium, a signed Brandon Roy jersey, a signed team poster by the 2005 NCAA Championship UW volleyball team, many autographed items from the current Husky women's players and much more.
Also taking place will be the annual alumni game that will begin at 10:30 a.m. on the main court. Fans can watch their favorite former Huskies play prior to the UW game with WSU at 1 p.m.
Fans will also want to come early to see a special pregame presentation for Kayla Burt. Nick Valvano, the CEO of the V Foundation and Jim Valvano's older brother, will present Burt with the 2005 V Foundation Comeback Award. Burt was named the recipient of the award last March after her courageous comeback to basketball following a cardiac arrest episode on Dec. 31, 2002.
Saturday, the Huskies will also celebrate National Girls and Women In Sports Day. All girls in attendance are encouraged to wear a sports jersey and will be invited onto the court at halftime for a presentation commemorating the event.
