Haryasz Named Pac-10 Player Of The Week

Walnut Creek, Calif. - Stanford forward/center Matt Haryasz has beennamed the U.S. Bank Pacific-10 Conference Men's Basketball Player ofthe Week for January 23 - 29, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Haryasz, who hails from Page, Ariz., led the Cardinal in scoring inboth victories over the Washington schools, averaging 23.0 points,9.5 rebounds and 2.5 blocks for the weekend. On Thursday, Haryaszscored 22 points, shooting 9-of-13 (.692) from the field inStanford's 69-59 victory over Washington State. He also posted ninerebounds, two blocks, and two assists in the win on the Farm.
On Saturday, Haryasz led his team with 24 points in the Cardinal's76-69 overtime upset over No. 10 Washington. He shot 8-of-14 (.571)from the field, including 8-of-13 (.615) at the foul line, in hisfifth straight 20-point game and ninth this season. The senior added10 boards, three blocks, and one steal against the Huskies. It washis eighth double-double of the season.
For the second straight week, Haryasz has played 38 minutes and 44minutes in back-to-back games. Over the last four games, he hasaveraged 41 minutes of game time. Haryasz ranks 17th on theCardinal's all-time career rebounding list, with 597 boards. BrentWilliams (1990-94) is 16th with 611.
Stanford (10-7 overall, 6-3 Pac-10) will travel to the Oregonschools this weekend, facing the Ducks on Thurs., Feb. 2 and theBeavers on Sat., Feb. 4.
This is the second weekly honor for Haryasz and Stanford's 37thPlayer of the Week all-time. Haryasz is the second player to win theaward in back-to back weeks this season, as Arizona's Hassan Adamsearned the honor on Dec. 26 and Jan. 2.
