Washington Swimming Prepares For Hawaii
Jan. 30, 2006
SEATTLE- The Washington men's and women's swimming teams prepare to face Hawaii on Saturday in what will be the men's last and women's second to last dual meet of the season. The Husky men will head in with a 6-4 dual meet record, while the women sport an 11-2 record on the season. The men are coming off a meet in which they defeated No. 20 BYU on January 4th in a close-fought battle, beating the Cougars by a score of 105-100. The women haven't competed in a dual meet since they defeated Idaho on November 18 by a score of 115-79.
Freshman Scott Spansail will look to continue his success so far this season, as he holds Husky top-times in five events in his first year of competition. The women will look to senior Sharon Olson for leadership, who holds six Husky-best times this season.
The last time these two teams met was last season on February 5th when the Huskies suffered a tough loss of 157-137. The meet featured 11 total first place finishes between both the Husky men and women. It also marked the final regular season competition for the men and the final away meet for the women.
The meet will be held at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex this Saturday, Feb. 4, at noon.
