ASU And LSU Reschedule Football Series
Feb. 6, 2006
TEMPE -Arizona State University and LSU have agreed to reschedule their football series for the 2015 and 2016 seasons, the schools announced Monday.
The Tigers will play host to Arizona State in Tiger Stadium on September 12, 2015, and then will travel to Tempe the following year on September 10, 2016.
'We are glad we were able to work out acceptable dates for both schools to meet in the future,' said Dan Radakovich, LSU associate athletics director, who is responsible for football scheduling. 'The people at Arizona State were great friends and wonderful hosts during a difficult time for LSU last year, and we wanted to keep this relationship intact.
'We had hoped to play this series sooner, but we wanted to play in back-to-back seasons and these were the first available dates for both schools,' Radakovich said.
'Re-scheduling this series was a priority for us,' says Lisa Love, Vice President for Athletics at Arizona State. 'We are thrilled to have a series of this magnitude on our future schedules. Working with the good people of the LSU athletic department has been a positive, first-class experience for us.'
The schools were originally slated to play in Baton Rouge in 2005 and in Tempe in 2008, but Hurricane Katrina caused a change in location of last season's meeting. LSU's 2005 home game was moved to Tempe and became a fund-raising effort for hurricane relief.
The game, a thriller that LSU won 35-31, produced over $1.1 million for the hurricane relief efforts.
