Women's Throwers Pace Sun Devils at Tyson Invitational

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The first day of the 2006 Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark., came to a close Friday afternoon with Arizona State University's track and field team sending four men and two women into competition at the same facility that will be used for the 2006 NCAA Indoor Championships next month.
On the women's side, Jessica Pressley finished third in the weight throw with a provisional mark of 20.17m while Sarah Stevens placed seventh in the same event with a personal best mark of 18.65m. The men sent a trio of sprinters to the track to compete in the 400m dash with Domenik Peterson leading the way with a sixth-place showing at 47.13, which also is a provisional qualifier. Also in the race, Chris Adams placed 21st at 47.80 while Jerry Jones finished 35th at 49.05. ASU's final entrant was Steven Koehnemann, who placed 25th in the preliminary rounds of the 60m dash in 6.89.
The Tyson Invitational concludes Saturday while other members of the Sun Devils will compete in either the Albuquerque Invitational at New Mexico or the Husky Invitational in Seattle, Wash.
