Cougar Tennis Falls to Oregon

KENNEWICK, Wash. - The Washington State women's tennis team was bested by Intercollegiate Tennis Association No. 24 Oregon Ducks, 5-2.
The highlight of the match for the Cougars came from junior Amy Toth. Toth defeated Oregon's Anna Powaska, 6-1, 6-2. The win gives Toth her 14th win of the season. She currently leads the team in dual match play victories with six.
Freshman Bianca Selaru bested Monica Hoz de Vila, 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (10-5). Selaru is currently undefeated in dual match play as she is now 4-0 and has an overall record of 11-4.
WSU head coach Lisa Hart was disappointed with the loss, but was pleased with the Cougar fans. The match was played at the Tri City Court Club in Kennewick, Wash. The Cougars felt right at home with all of the Tri City fans that showed up, Hart said.
'It was awesome to see the Cougar fans in this area come out and show their support for our squad,' Hart said. 'It was a good weekend for us despite our loss, but the fans made the weekend even better.'
The Cougars will have a week off before they host a pair of ranked opponents. The Cougars will face No. 1 Stanford, Friday Feb. 24, at 11 a.m. in the first Pac-10 conference match. The match is scheduled to be played in Lewiston, Idaho. Then the Cougars will face No. 6 California in Spokane, Saturday Feb. 25, at noon.
