California's Suzi Fodor Named Pac-10 Women's Tennis Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - CALIFORNIA junior Suzi Fodor has been named the Pac-10 Women's Tennis Player of the Week for Feb. 6 - 12, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
In Cal's 6-0 singles sweep over San Diego State, Fodor, from Budapest, Hungary, outlasted Eliska Krausova, 6-1, 6-4 in the No. 2 position. No. 19 Fodor went on to defeat eighth-ranked Elena Gantcheva, 7-6, 6-3, as the sixth-ranked Bears handed No. 38 UNLV its first loss of the season. The win marked Fodor's fourth victory in the No. 1 singles position this year.
Fodor also posted two victories in the No. 2 doubles position last week. Against San Diego State, Fodor and Claire Ilcinkas defeated Alesya Vidov and Milana Yusupow, 8-2. The duo went on to defeat UNLV's Sharon Marin and Claire Smith, 9-7, on Saturday.
California, who remains unbeaten at home this season, travels to the Los Angeles schools this week, facing UCLA on Fri., Feb. 17 and USC on Sat., Feb. 18.
This is Fodor's first Pac-10 Player of the Week honor and second weekly honor all-time for California.
