Duke, Spadafino Compete at USA Cross Country Championships

Feb. 18, 2006

VAN COURTLAND PARK, N.Y. - Two freshmen members of the Arizona State University cross country program competed in the snow-covered USA Cross Country Championships Saturday at Van Courtland Park in New York as both battled for placement with the American contingent running in the IAAF World Cross Country Championships set for April 1-2 in Japan.

Although neither runner met the Top 6 finish standard to compete for Team USA at the world meet, both Krystal Duke and Angela Spadafino ran well in the cold weather surrounding the race. Both women competed in the women's junior 6k race with Duke placing 22nd overall at 22:12 and Spadafino just behind her in 27th at 22.29.

Both women will now return to Tempe to continue their training for the up-coming outdoor track and field season.
