Feb. 19, 2006
WACO, TEXAS - The California (3-5)-No. 23-ranked Baylor (4-0) baseball series that was scheduled for Feb. 17-19 at Baylor Ballpark was called off due to cold weather. The Golden Bears' Sunday game against the Bears was not able to be played after a cold front, featuring a winter storm watch, remained in central Texas with temperatures that had dropped into the low 20s with freezing rain.
Cal will next play UC Santa Barbara in a three-game series, beginning Friday, Feb. 24 at 1:30 p.m. at Evans Diamond. Offensively, the Bears have been led this season by senior shortstop Allen Craig, who is batting a team-high .344 with three doubles, and junior left fielder Chris Errecart, who is hitting .310 with a team-leading four home runs and nine RBI. Junior center fielder Brennan Boesch is batting .290 with three home runs and four RBI. On the mound, Cal has been paced by junior right-hander Brandon Morrow, who is 1-0 with a 1.59 ERA and has 13 strikeouts in 11.3 innings.
