The UCLA gymnastics team improved from ninth to sixth in the national rankings, which is now based on regional qualifying score (RQS). UCLA holds an RQS of 195.850. Senior Kate Richardson leads all gymnasts in the all-around, ranking first with an RQS of 39.340. She also ranks in the Top 25 on all four events.
The Bruins rank in the Top 10 on all four events, checking in at No. 3 on vault (49.083), No. 4 on bars (49.025), No. 6 on beam (48.840) and No. 7 on floor (49.010).
At least two Bruins are ranked in the Top 25 on all four events. On vault, Richardson ranks fifth with a 9.885, and Comforte is 12th with a 9.865. On bars, Comforte ranks third with a 9.895, Richardson ranks eighth (9.880), and Ashley Peckett ranks 21st (9.825). Three Bruins are ranked on beam - No. 8 Melissa Chan (9.840), No. 15 Comforte (9.820), and No. 25 Richardson (9.790). Jalynne Dantzscher joins seventh-ranked Richardson (9.860) in the floor rankings, checking in at No. 21 with a 9.815.
The RQS is attained by taking the team's top six scores, three of which must be away, throwing out the high and averaging the remaining five.
