Arizona's Jeff Groslimond Named Pac-10 Men's Tennis Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - ARIZONA senior Jeff Groslimond has been named the Pac-10 Men's Tennis Player of the Week for Feb. 13 - 20, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Groslimond, a senior from Atlanta, Ga., helped the No. 58 Wildcats to a 5-2 victory over No. 67 Fresno State on Saturday. He paired with Claudio Christen in the No. 1 doubles position to defeat Sergiu Moduc and Sam Gibbs. He then won at the No. 2 singles position, defeating Moduc 6-4, 7-6 (8-6).
On Sunday, Groslimond and Christen defeated Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's Mikhail Pavlov and Andrey Kumantsov, 8-3. In singles action, the senior faced No. 51 Kumantsov at the No. 2 position. In a close first set, Groslimond was able to hold serve and break Kumantsov to win 6-4. In the second set, Groslimond swept the games to win 6-0 and win the match in straight sets. His upset victory helped Arizona to its own 6-1 upset over the Islanders.
This is Groslimond's first Pac-10 Player of the Week honor and second weekly honor all-time for Arizona.
