Hunt & Buehler Journal Entry from the U.K.
Hi from Kent, England!
Well, it's late Friday night, and we are in for a late night of studying, but we thought we'd give everyone a quick update on our week. We've had a full week of traveling! After waking up at 4 AM on Friday morning, we landed in Heathrow and stayed in Maidenhead for a few days. We expected to play a game on Sunday, but unfortunately, the game was called off, after several local club teams canceled on us. Hayley went into London one afternoon and did a little sightseeing and shopping, while Rachel finished studying for a Human Physiology midterm she would be taking the next morning. After Buehler ACED her midterm, we had a great chance to watch an English Premiere game in Upton Park in which West Ham overtook Birmingham in an exciting match.
We then took a short trip to Scotland where we played the Full Scotland Team and won the game, 3-1. After getting through a rainstorm in the second half, we both think that it was the coldest weather we've ever played in. After the game we took a trip to Edinburgh for dinner and got a chance to see Edinburgh Castle lit up at night. It was beautiful!
Next, we were scheduled to play the U-21 England team today. The conditions were pretty bad, as we played on a field that was practically all mud. Unfortunately, we had a tough loss. The score was 1-2.
After a great deal of traveling, near freezing weather, and a couple exciting games, we had a great experience, but we're excited to come back to Stanford!
We hope you enjoy a few pictures from our trip!
