Oregon State's Vanessa Iapala Named Pac-10 Softball Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - OREGON STATE senior Vanessa Iapala has been named the Pac-10 Softball Player of the Week for Feb. 14-20, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
The San Diego, Calif., native led the Beavers with a .667 (8-for-12) batting average in their five wins at the UNLV Desert Classic this weekend. Iapala had seven RBI, two home runs and two doubles to lead OSU to its eighth straight victory. With her two doubles, Iapala is now Oregon State's all-time doubles leader with 45.
A two-time first team All-Pacific Region and second team All-Pac-10 Conference selection, Iapala ranks in the OSU career Top-10 lists in five different batting categories (batting average, hits, RBI, doubles, and home runs).
Oregon State (8-2, 0-0), travels to the Palm Springs Tournament this weekend, and will face Long Island, No. nr/25 LSU, No. 11/16 Baylor, Illinois-Chicago and Oklahoma State.
This is Iapala's third Pac-10 Player of the Week honor and Oregon State's 28th weekly honor all-time.
