PAC-10 SQUADS CONTINUE TO DOMINATE TOURNAMENT PLAY

Non-conference tournament play continues for Pac-10 squads ... the Conference has seven of eight teams ranked in the USA Softball/ESPN.com Top-25, with four schools in the Top-10 ... UCLA remains at No. 2, while ARIZONA moves up to No. 3 and CALIFORNIA and STANFORD sit at No. 6 and 7, respectively ... ARIZONA moved to the top of the poll after going 5-0 at the Worth Wildcat Tournament, allowing only one run and putting up 22 ... UCLA dropped to the three-spot, while STANFORD is ranked 6th and CALIFORNIA 9th ... OREGON STATE moved up to 11th place, while WASHINGTON and ARIZONA STATE round out the Pac-10 contingent at 14th and 15th, respectively ... OREGON also received votes ... the Pac-10 has the most teams in the poll of any Conference, with seven in the Top-25 ... the Pac-10 garnered a 70-13 (.843) record against non-conference foes over the weekend ... Conference teams were also 14-7 against ranked opponents.

TEAM-BY-TEAM NOTES

ARIZONA (11-0):
Arizona moved to the No. 1 spot in the national rankings for the first time since Mar. 15/16, 2005, after winning its Worth Wildcat Invitational over the weekend ... Arizona only allowed one run in the Tournament, compared to its 22 runs scored ... Senior dynamo Alicia Hollowell (6-0) continues to dominate on the mound, throwing three more complete-game shutouts ... Sophomore hurler Tarynne Mowatt (5-0) threw a 13-strikeout game against Texas Tech and had an 18-strikeout outing against Tennessee Tech ... Junior Chelsea Mesa batted .467 (7-for-12) in the five wins, knocking two doubles, a triple, a home run, four RBI and four runs scored ... Arizona's dominant pitching staff leads the Conference in team ERA (0.20), opposing batting average (0.87), batters struck out (141), fewest runs allowed (2), fewest walks allowed (4), and fewest earned runs allowed (2).

ARIZONA STATE (13-0): The undefeated Sun Devils swept their Littlewood Classic, winning their second-straight Tournament title ... ASU has outscored its opponents 99-20 on the season ... Freshman Kaitlin Cochran continues to tear through her collegiate career, holding a Conference-leading .553 batting average (21-for-38) with six home runs, 25 RBI, no strikeouts, six stolen bases and a 1.158 slugging percentage ... Sophomore pitcher Katie Burkhart (5-0) pitched 18.0 innings over the weekend, chucking 22 strikeouts and allowing only 14 hits ... ASU pitchers tie for the Pac-10 lead with 23 batters struck out looking ... Sun Devil batters lead the Conference in eight statistical categories: slugging percentage (.586), runs scored (99), RBI (92), home runs (23), total bases (202), walks (59) and stolen bases (31).

CALIFORNIA (7-2): The Golden Bears suffered their only two losses of the season at the UNLV Desert Classic, dropping games to No. 12/14 Northwestern and Cal State Fullerton ... Freshman pitcher Lauren Frankiewicz (3-0) went 2-0 over the weekend, pitching wins against Illinois and Wright State ... She threw a two-hitter in the Bears' 8-1 win over the Raiders ... Senior Haley Woods hit .375 during the Tournament, finishing with two doubles, two home runs and five RBI ... Both of Woods' long balls came during the Bears' 6-4 win against Illinois ... Woods is tied for fourth in the Pac-10 in both doubles (4) and home runs (3) ... Cal ranks second in the Conference in fielding percentage (.980) and fewest errors (5) ... Freshman Carly Winger is Cal's leading hitter; ranked 10th in the Conference with a .429 batting average and fourth with a .821 slugging percentage.

OREGON (6-4): The Ducks went 2-3 at the UNLV Desert Classic, losing two games by one run ... Oregon still managed to outscore its opponents on the weekend 20-17 ... The Ducks nearly upset No. 4/4 Tennessee on Fri., Feb. 17, taking a scoreless game into the seventh inning ... Senior pitcher Amy Harris (4-2) scattered five hits and did not allow a run until the seventh inning ... Harris ranks first in the Conference in appearances (8), eighth in strikeouts (38), tied for seventh in wins (4) and fifth in innings pitched (33.2) ... Breanne Sabol leads the Ducks at the plate with a .433 batting average, good for an eighth-place tie in the Conference standings ... She also ranks third in slugging percentage (.833) and fourth in runs scored (12) ... The Ducks rank second in the Conference with five triples.

STANFORD (10-1): The Cardinal swept their Stanford Invitational, winning six games by a 44-5 margin ... Freshman Missy Penna (5-1) continued her early season success, going 3-0 on the weekend and striking out 21 batters while walking only three ... In three games, she allowed only three hits and no runs, also striking out 11 batters in Stanford's first win over Drake ... Senior Catalina Morris hit .381 on the weekend with a .952 slugging percentage, hitting two home runs, three triples and seven RBI ... Morris ranks fifth in the Conference with a .816 slugging percentage and is tied for third with 16 hits and 12 RBI ... The Cardinal is ranked in the top three in eight batting categories: third in batting average (.336), third in slugging percentage (.520), third in on-base percentage (.421), second in runs scored (70), second in hits (100), second in RBI (65), first in triples (9) and tied for third in home runs (8).

OREGON STATE (8-2): Riding an eight-game winning streak, the Beavers tore through the UNLV Desert Classic ... OSU recorded five wins on the weekend, including a 6-2 win over No. 12/14 Northwestern ... Senior Vanessa Iapala led the Beavers during the Classic with a .667 (8-for-12) batting average with seven RBI, two home runs and two doubles ... With her two doubles, Iapala became OSU's all-time leader with 45 in her career ... Beaver hitters have knocked two or more home runs in a game four times this season ... Eight different Beaver players registered a hit during OSU's 14-7 victory over Illinois ... Adrienne Alo leads Beaver hitters, ranking eighth in the Conference with a .433 batting average, second with a .933 slugging percentage, and second with 15 RBI ... OSU is second in the Pac-10 with a combined .337 team batting average, fourth with a .516 slugging percentage, fourth with a .406 on-base percentage and third with 85 hits.

UCLA (7-1): The Bruins lead the Conference in batting average (.357) and on-base percentage (.445) ... UCLA won two close games over No. 25/22 Fresno State ... In Sunday's 10-inning matchup, Cailtin Benyi had two of UCLA's six hits and scored the game's only run while sophomore pitcher Anjelica Selden (4-1) struck out 18 ... In Saturday's 2-0 win, junior pitcher Lisa Dodd struck out 10 batters, pitching a two-hit shutout, and connected on a two-run home run to lead the Bruins to the victory ... Dodd had all three of UCLA's RBI on the weekend ... Selden pitched 16.0 innings with a 0.00 ERA last week, striking out 31 and allowing just four hits ... She also leads the Conference with a .065 opposing batting average and ranks second with 65 strikeouts ... Emily Zaplotsch leads the Bruins with a .483 batting average.

WASHINGTON (8-3): The Huskies placed second at the LSU Tiger Classic, dropping two games to host No. 25t/25 LSU ... Ashley Charters, Sarah Hyatt and Danielle Lawrie were each named to the all-tournament team ... Charters led the team with a .471 average, eight hits and four runs scored ... Hyatt hit .429 (6-for-14) with two doubles and five RBI, and was perfect on defense at the corners in 36 chances ... Lawrie (5-1) went 2-1 from the circle with a pair of shutouts and 27 strikeouts in 23.2 innings ... She has struck out 10 or more batters in four of her six games this season ... Washington is tied for fourth in the Pac-10 with 82 hits and is tied for second with 15 doubles ... The Husky pitching staff is ranked fourth in opponent batting average (.185), third in strikeouts (92) and fourth in batters struck out looking (21) ... Freshman Marnie Koziol is riding a 10-game hitting streak.
