Bruins Earn Split Against Bay Area Schools . . .
UCLA lost to top-ranked Stanford, 6-0 before defeating No. 6 Cal, 4-3 in a rain-soaked weekend at the Los Angeles Tennis Center last week. UCLA and Cal were able to play only half of their match on Friday before rain suspended play until Sunday. Fearing rain again on Saturday, UCLA and Stanford skipped doubles and went right to singles, where the Cardinal took six-straight matches for the 6-0 win. UCLA and Cal returned to the courts on Sunday with the Bruins taking a 1-0 lead into the day after capturing the doubles point on Friday. UCLA then received singles wins from Tracy Lin, Alex McGoodwin and Elizabeth Lumpkin to seal the 4-3 upset.

After Lumpkin took the first set 6-2, Bobusic fought back for a 6-3 second-set victory. Lumpkin, however, ran away with it in the third, winning 6-1 to give UCLA the upset win.
