No. 3 Cal Defends Relay Title at Pac-10 Championships

LONG BEACH, Calif. - The No. 3 California women's swimming team defended the Golden Bears' title in the 800-yard freestyle relay Wednesday at the Pac-10 Championships in Long Beach, Calif. The Bears are tied with Arizona for first place in the team competition after Day 1.

The 800 free relay team of Ashley Chandler, Lauren Andrews, Lauren Rogers and Erin Reilly posted a winning time of 7:08.31.

In the day's opening event, Cal placed second in the 200 medley relay behind Arizona. The Bears' team of Helen Silver, Jessica Hardy, Annie Babicz and Emily Silver clocked a 1:39.98 in that race.

The conference championship meet continues Thursday through Saturday.
